Poppy Slate Window Stone Feature

When an existing Client got in touch to discuss another project including a Slate Window Stone I had no idea it was going to turn out quite like this.

I have sourced and drilled a number of pieces now for Caroline which she has exhibited at a range of events including the world famous RHS Chelsea Flower Show but I knew straight away this was going to be something special.
This piece was to remember and commemorate the centenary of World War I. 1914 – 2014.
Caroline’s design included the hand carving of 100 poppies into the Welsh Slate. These were to be ‘scattered’ all over the slate in a random manner taking over a 1000 hours of chiseling.
The slate was then transported upto the Chelsea Flower Show and took pride of place on Caroline’s stand. After being admired by many, it was then moved to Romsey and donated to the Royal British Legion.
It is now placed for everyone to see just outside Romsey Train Station.
Here’s the article published in the local Daily Echo.
